Ceiling Grid for a Curtain Wall Enclosure

A metal ceiling grid must support a ceiling cover to prevent the ceiling fabric from sagging into the enclosure.

The perimeter of the grid is either framed with a curtain track system if the sides are retractable or with Unistrut if the sides are stationary mount.

The grid inside the perimeter is constructed with angle iron and 4-way cross intersections which allow us to support the grid weight from the ceiling.

If you use some of your existing building walls to create the enclosure the hardware of the sides of the ceiling grid can be mounted to the walls.

There is no size limit on how big your suspended enclosure can be as long you can support the size of the metal grid from your ceiling.

If you choose a free standing enclosure not supported from the ceiling there is a size limit of 50 square feet. Additionally you would need to anchor foot plates in to the ground every 5 feet for the uprights to be secure.

Using 3, 2, or 1 of the building walls to create an enclosure

You can create either a U- or L-shaped enclosure. The ceiling grid still has to have four sides which can be attached to your walls. By using existing walls to create the enclosure, you save cost on the side wall material.
